Best Food to Serve at a Corporate Event in Toronto

Inclusive, crowd-pleasing halal menu ideas for Toronto corporate events.

The best corporate catering does two things: pleases a diverse team and shows up on time. For inclusivity, halal food is the safe, smart default — it works for almost everyone, and Sri Lankan and Indian dishes are flavourful enough to feel like a treat rather than a sad sandwich tray.

A reliable corporate spread

Biryani, a butter-style and a drier curry, kottu roti, a vegetarian main, and a simple dessert covers every dietary need without complicated separate orders. Because it's 100% halal with vegetarian options, nobody on the team is left out.

The safe corporate menu

One rice, one mild curry, one hot option, one vegetable dish and a dessert covers almost every office. Make it all halal so nobody has to ask. Our Chicken Biryani Combo 2 (roughly $20 to $30 per person (quoted on menu and headcount)) does that in one order, and the Vegetable Biryani Combo (quoted for your event) covers vegetarians. For desk lunches, ask for individual boxed lunches.

Our chicken, beef and lamb are HMA-certified halal.

Allergy notes

Some of our dishes contain egg (kottu, egg masala, watalappan), dairy (yogurt sambal), fish (maasi sambal is made with dried Maldives fish) and nuts (green pea cashew curry). If anyone has an allergy, tell us when you order and we will tell you what to avoid.

Match the food to the format

The right corporate menu depends less on the cuisine and more on how people will eat.

  • Working lunch in a boardroom: people eat while talking and taking notes, so skip anything that needs a knife. Biryani with one dry side, like chicken chukka or deep-fried chicken, is easy with a fork.
  • All-hands or town hall: a single buffet line for 50 to 200 people. Choose one combo for everyone and a vegetable combo, so the line moves and nobody has to decide between twelve trays.
  • Client lunch or open house: this is where a larger spread earns its price. A ghee rice combo with eight or ten dishes looks generous on the table.
  • Office iftar during Ramadan: time the delivery for shortly before sunset and have water and dates on the table ready for the fast to open.

Common corporate catering mistakes

  • Ordering only for the RSVP list. Office RSVPs are unreliable both ways. Order for the number you expect on the day, not the highest count.
  • Forgetting the vegetarians until the last minute. Ask in the invite. If 20 or more people need vegetarian food, the Vegetable Biryani Combo covers them at roughly $20 to $30 per person (quoted on menu and headcount).
  • Choosing food that dies on the table. Kottu is excellent fresh but softens as it sits. For a long meeting, biryani and fried chicken hold up much better.
  • No one assigned to receive the food. We drop off; we do not send servers. Name one person to meet the driver, clear a table, and open the trays.

Two office sizes, priced out

Food cost before tax and delivery, using our listed per-person combo prices:

  • Department of 60, quarterly meeting: Chicken Biryani Combo 2, final pricing depends on your menu and headcount.
  • Company of 100 with 20 vegetarians: final pricing depends on your menu and headcount plus final pricing depends on your menu and headcount total $2,300.

Delivering to downtown offices

Our kitchen is at 328 Passmore Avenue in north Scarborough. Downtown Toronto is about 35 to 45 minutes away, more at rush hour, so plan a delivery window a little before people sit down and send building details (loading dock, security desk, freight elevator) when you book. For more ideas see office lunch catering, or call or text (647) 449-2924 with your date and headcount.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the best food for a corporate event?

Halal Sri Lankan & Indian catering is inclusive and crowd-pleasing — biryani, curries, kottu and a vegetarian option.

Do you deliver to offices?

Yes, across Toronto and the GTA.

What food works for a corporate event?

A rice, a mild curry, a hot option, a vegetable dish and dessert, all halal.

Do you do boxed lunches?

Yes.

Do you send staff to serve at the office?

No. Catering is drop-off or pickup only. The food arrives packed and ready to serve, and your team handles setup.

How far ahead should we book a downtown office lunch?

As early as you can. Downtown is one of our longer drives, so a few days of notice makes it easier to lock in a delivery time.

What should we serve for an office iftar?

A biryani combo works well because it holds heat. Have it arrive before sunset, and put out water and dates for breaking the fast.
