Halal Sri Lankan Catering in Vaughan — 2026
Halal Sri Lankan Catering for Vaughan events. Halal Sri Lankan menus, pricing, lead times, and delivery from our Scarborough kitchen.
Start with the budget, then build the menu
Most catering guides start with dishes. This one starts with a number, because that is how a lot of hosts actually plan. Say you are hosting an engagement or a milestone birthday at home in Vaughan for 70 people, and you have set aside $2,000 for food. What can that buy, and where does the money go?
Keep one thing in mind from the start: every figure below is before tax and delivery. Vaughan is about 35 km from our kitchen in north Scarborough, so ask for a delivery quote early and keep some room in the budget for it.
Four ways to spend $2,000 on 70 guests
Each combo is priced per person with a 20-person minimum.
- Chicken Biryani Combo 1, $20: 70 x $20 = $1,400. Chicken biryani, eggplant mojo, egg masala and acharu. Leaves $600 of headroom.
- Chicken Biryani Combo 2, $25: 70 x $25 = $1,750. Adds deep-fried chicken, pineapple curry, maasi sambol, green-pea cashew curry and custard dessert.
- Ghee Rice Combo 4 (8 dishes), $28: 70 x $28 = $1,960. Ghee rice, whole chicken korma, deep-fried Bengal masala beef, kaliya, pineapple curry, acharu, capsicum and ktull wattalapam. Close to the line.
- Seeraga Samba Ghee Rice Combo, $30: 70 x $30 = $2,100. Already over before tax and delivery.
For an engagement, many families want the festive feel of ghee rice. For a birthday with lots of children, Combo 2 gives you dessert and fried chicken while leaving money for drinks and decorations.
What the extra dollars actually buy
The jump from $20 to $28 is not just about bigger portions. It is about how many different dishes land on the table. Combo 1 has four components. Combo 2 has eight. Ghee Rice Combo 4 brings two main proteins, a chicken and a beef, plus vegetable sides and a dessert. On a buffet, more dishes means guests can build very different plates, and that spread is what makes a celebration table look generous.
If your guests are mostly close family who eat simply, the cheaper combo can be the right choice. If you are hosting the other side of the family for the first time, the wider spread may be worth the extra.
Saving without the table looking thin
- Move vegetarian guests to the Vegetable Biryani Combo at $15. For 20 vegetarians, that is $300 instead of $400 to $560 on a meat combo. Ask us about mixing combos when you book.
- Skip a separate dessert order. Combo 2 and the ghee rice combos above already include a dessert.
- Consider weekend pickup. Our kitchen does pickup on Saturday and Sunday. The 35 to 40 minute drive each way is a real commitment, but it can make sense if someone is coming from that direction anyway.
- Count real eaters. Toddlers sharing a parent's plate do not need a full portion. Confirm your final number close to the date.
Running an engagement at home
A home event in Vaughan usually means a big kitchen island or a dining table turned into a buffet, plus a garage or basement for overflow. Give us your serving time, and plan for the drop-off to arrive comfortably before it. Our catering is drop-off or pickup only, with no on-site staff, so pick one family member to receive the trays, open them, set out the serving spoons and look after refills. That frees the hosts to greet guests.
Keep the hot dishes in chafing dishes or a warm oven while people arrive, and refrigerate leftovers within two hours.
Line items people forget to budget
Food is the biggest cost, but it is rarely the only one. Set aside money for disposable chafing kits and fuel if you do not own them, serving spoons, sturdy plates and cutlery, drinks, ice, garbage bags and containers for sending food home. For a 70-person party, these extras add up quickly. A host who spends the full $2,000 on food often ends up making an emergency run to the store on the morning of the event.
