A standing lunch for a standing meeting

Plenty of Markham teams already have a monthly all-hands, a sprint review or a quarter-end wrap-up on the calendar. Those are the orders that suit us best, because the date, the room and the headcount barely change. Markham sits in York Region about 10 km from our kitchen at 328 Passmore Avenue, roughly a 15 minute drive up toward Highway 7 and Warden. It is a short hop rather than a cross-city run, which makes it practical to book the same slot every month and treat lunch as one less thing to organize.

The risk with a recurring lunch is boredom. By the third month, the same tray of the same rice starts to feel like a chore. The fix is to plan the rotation once, at the start of the quarter, and let it run.

One quarter, three menus

Here is a rotation for a team of 25, using prices from our current menu. quotes each event based on menu and headcount with a 20-person minimum, so a team of 25 clears it comfortably.

  1. Month one: Chicken Biryani Combo 1 at quoted for your event. Chicken biryani, eggplant mojo, egg masala and acharu. final pricing depends on your menu and headcount. A plain, familiar opener that most people already know how to eat.
  2. Month two: Beef Biryani Combo at quoted for your event. Beef biryani with whole chicken deep-fried, green-pea cashew curry, eggplant mojo, pineapple curry, maasi sambal, acharu and custard dessert. final pricing depends on your menu and headcount. More dishes on the table and something sweet to close.
  3. Month three: Ghee Rice Combo 2 (6 dishes) at quoted for your event. Ghee rice, boneless beef bisteak, fried whole chicken, kaliya curry, maasi sambal, acharu and ktull wattalapam. final pricing depends on your menu and headcount. Save this one for the quarter-end lunch, when the team has earned something richer.

The quarter is confirmed in your event quote, a little over roughly $20 to $30 per person (quoted on menu and headcount) per lunch. If finance prefers one flat monthly figure, Chicken Biryani Combo 2 at quoted for your event lands at $625 every time and still changes up the sides compared with Combo 1.

Give the lunch an owner

Recurring lunches drift when nobody owns them. Pick one coordinator, usually an office manager or team assistant, and give them three jobs:

  • Confirm the headcount a few days before each lunch, counting hybrid staff who are coming in that day.
  • Collect dietary notes once and keep them on file: vegetarians, people avoiding eggs, nut allergies, anyone who skips seafood.
  • Call or text us at (647) 449-2924 with the date, the street address, the serving time and the final number.

That one call replaces a monthly scramble through delivery apps and a dozen separate orders. Because the trip from Passmore Avenue is short, the coordinator can set the drop-off close to the start of the meeting, so the food goes from the boxes into chafing dishes and onto plates without a long wait in between.

Share the dish list before lunch day

A rotating menu means rotating ingredients, so post the dish list in the team channel ahead of time. In the rotation above, egg masala contains eggs, the green-pea cashew curry contains cashews, and maasi sambal is made with dried Maldives fish. If anyone has an egg or dairy concern about the desserts, ask us before you order. All chicken, beef and lamb we use is HMA-certified halal, and we can share the documentation if your HR or events team wants it on file.

Covering the colleagues who skip meat

When several people are vegetarian, the Vegetable Biryani Combo (roughly $20 to $30 per person (quoted on menu and headcount)) with eggplant mojo, pineapple curry, acharu and yogurt sambal is the natural partner to a chicken combo. When the vegetarian count is small, ask us about mixing combos. Our halal catering menu ideas page has more pairings, and the Markham corporate catering guide covers bigger company functions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our team is only 12 people. Can we still order?

Combos need 20 people, so a group of 12 is better served by catering trays. A medium tray feeds 10 to 15. Call us with the dishes you want and ask for a quote.

Can we lock in the same day each month?

Call with the dates for the quarter and the serving time, then confirm the headcount a few days before each lunch.

Will someone set up the food in our boardroom?

No. The food arrives packed and ready to serve, and your team lays it out. We don't send servers or on-site staff.
