Halal Nikah Catering in Scarborough
Authentic halal nikah catering delivered to Scarborough, roughly $20 to $30 per person (quoted on menu and headcount).
Two rooms, two serving tables
Many nikahs seat men and women separately, in different rooms of a house, different halls at the masjid, or on either side of a partition. If yours will, the food plan has to follow the seating plan. One buffet in one room means someone carrying hot trays back and forth during the ceremony, and usually one side waiting while the other finishes.
The fix is simple: tell us the split when you book, and ask us about packing the order in two sets. Each side then gets its own trays of rice, mains and sides, and each room runs its own table.
Splitting the count
Say you expect 70 guests: 38 men and 32 women. Give us those two numbers, not just the total. Then, for each room, sort out:
- A table, a tablecloth and enough chafing dishes for that room's trays.
- Serving spoons for every tray, so nothing is borrowed from the other side.
- One person in charge of opening trays and refilling.
- Plates, cups and napkins counted for that room.
- A place for dessert that is not on the main line.
If the rooms are on different floors
In a house, the split is often upstairs and downstairs, or the main floor and the basement. Move each set of trays to its own floor before the ceremony starts. Stairs plus hot trays plus guests in long clothes is a bad mix, and nobody wants to do it while the nikah is being read. Give each floor its own outlet or fuel for the warmers as well.
Picking up on the way to the masjid
Since our kitchen is right here on Passmore Avenue, a lot of Scarborough families collect the nikah food themselves. Our weekend kitchen does pickup on Saturday and Sunday from 328 Passmore Avenue, Unit 59. If you are picking up, choose a driver who is not part of the ceremony, bring a second car for a large order, and leave enough time to unload before guests arrive. A split order means two clearly marked sets, so load them into separate cars if the rooms are in different buildings.
A short drive from our kitchen
If you would rather have it delivered, most of Scarborough is 10 to 20 minutes from us. That short distance means we can aim for a window close to the end of the ceremony instead of hours ahead. Food arrives packed and ready to serve; we do not stay to set up or serve, so have your two room leads ready.
Two Scarborough nikah budgets
quotes each event based on menu and headcount with a 20-person minimum. Totals are before tax and delivery.
- 35 guests, Mutton Biryani Combo (quoted for your event): final pricing depends on your menu and headcount. Mutton biryani, chicken chukka, eggplant moju, maasi sambol, pineapple curry, yogurt sambal, acharu and kithul watalappan.
- 70 guests in two rooms, String Hopper Biryani Combo (quoted for your event): final pricing depends on your menu and headcount. String-hopper biryani, chicken korma, eggplant moju, pineapple curry, yogurt sambal and maasi sambol. This combo has no dessert, so add Vattalappam ($15 on our menu) or your own mithai.
Small details that matter on the day
Maasi sambol contains dried Maldives fish, and Vattalappam contains eggs. Label them in both rooms. If an elder needs a plate brought to them, set it aside before the buffet opens. Refrigerate leftovers within two hours, and keep each room's leftovers separate so families can take them home easily.
