When guests arrive in waves

Winter parties: driveways, steps and parking

Ajax is 25 to 30 minutes east of our kitchen on the 401, about 27 km. In winter, snow and slow traffic can stretch that, so allow for it in the time you give us. Help the drop-off go smoothly: shovel and salt the driveway and front steps, keep one spot free close to the door, and switch on the porch light. On a crowded street where every driveway is full of guests' cars, tell us whether to use a side door or the garage. Winter weekends around the holidays fill quickly, so book early. And keep a mat or old towel inside the door, because trays come in faster when nobody is worried about wet boots on the carpet.

Our chicken, beef and lamb are HMA-certified halal. If an older relative asks how you checked, you can tell them documentation is available from us on request. Elders at an anniversary often care about this more than anyone else in the room, and it is a fair question to ask any caterer.
