Fifteen minutes from our kitchen

Markham is our closest neighbour. From 328 Passmore Avenue, a Markham address is about 10 km and roughly 15 minutes away. For a party, being this close means the food spends very little time on the road and pickup is a short errand. If your headcount moves in the last days before the party, call us as soon as you know. The sooner we hear, the easier it is to plan around.

Markham hosts also tend to have a lot of choice nearby, so the reason to order from us is usually the food itself: Northern Sri Lankan style biryani made with freshly ground spices, and family recipes passed down through generations.

Parties smaller than 20 guests

Our combos start at 20 people, but plenty of Markham parties are smaller: a birthday dinner for the immediate family, a few friends over for a match, cousins visiting for the weekend. For those, skip the combos and order individual dishes. Here is one example of a shared order at our menu prices:

• 6 Biriyani at $12 each: $72. Choose chicken, beef, mutton or vegetable.
• 3 Chilli Chicken at $14.99 each: $44.97.
• 3 Kottu Roti at $13 each: $39. Each comes with an egg omelette.

Two combo budgets for Markham

Once you pass 20 guests, a combo is simpler than adding up single dishes. quotes each event based on menu and headcount with a 20-person minimum. Before tax and delivery:

• 25 guests on Chicken Biryani Combo 2 (quoted for your event): final pricing depends on your menu and headcount. Chicken biryani, deep-fried chicken, pineapple curry, eggplant moju, acharu, maasi sambol, green-pea cashew curry and custard dessert.
• 50 guests on Chicken Biryani Combo 1 (quoted for your event): final pricing depends on your menu and headcount. Chicken biryani, eggplant moju, egg masala and acharu.

The jump from Combo 1 to Combo 2 is roughly $20 to $30 per person (quoted on menu and headcount). For that you get a second chicken dish, two more curries, maasi sambol and a dessert. At 25 guests that difference is $125, which is often less than a separate cake or dessert order.

Before the doorbell rings

Half an hour before the food arrives, run through this list:

• Clear one table only for food, well away from the cake and the gift pile.
• Put out one serving spoon per tray, plus plates, napkins and cups.
• Set chafing dishes in place, and light the fuel only once the trays are in.
• Keep containers or foil ready to send leftovers home with family.
• Decide where trays will stay warm if dinner gets pushed back for a late guest or a speech.
• Have a plan for shoes at the door if the driver is carrying trays inside.

What we do and do not do

We do not offer dine-in, and our catering is drop-off or pickup only. There are no servers or on-site cooking. The food comes packed and ready to serve, and you look after setting it out. For a Markham house party, that is usually all anyone needs. If you want help planning quantities, tell us the number of adults and children separately when you call, along with anyone who does not eat meat, and we will suggest a combo or a mix of dishes that fits.
