The Beef Biryani Combo

At $27 per person for 20 or more, the Beef Biryani Combo is the fullest spread for the price: beef biryani, whole deep-fried chicken, green pea cashew curry, eggplant moju, pineapple curry, maasi sambal, acharu and custard dessert. For one person, order the Biriyani ($12) with beef.

Allergy notes

Some of our dishes contain egg (kottu, egg masala, watalappan), dairy (yogurt sambal), fish (maasi sambal is made with dried Maldives fish) and nuts (green pea cashew curry). If anyone has an allergy, tell us when you order and we will tell you what to avoid.

Ordering beef biryani for one table or thirty

For a weeknight-style dinner at home, the single Biriyani is $12 with beef. Four people sharing four plates comes to $48 before tax, and it is worth adding one Mango Lassi ($6) to pass around if anyone at the table finds the spice a lot. For a party of 30, the Beef Biryani Combo works out to 30 x $27 = $810 before tax and delivery, and the deep-fried chicken in that combo means guests who do not eat much beef still have a full plate.

Beef, chicken or mutton: how they differ on the plate

• Chicken biryani is the lightest of the three and the easiest choice when you do not know your guests well.
• Beef biryani has a deeper, meatier taste. The beef is cooked until it pulls apart, so it suits people who want something more filling than chicken.
• Mutton biryani is the richest and most traditional for big occasions, and the Mutton Biryani Combo is $29 per person.

If you are torn, a party of 40 can split into two combos, for example 20 beef and 20 chicken, as long as each part meets the 20 person minimum.

Leftovers, storage and reheating

Biryani is one of the few dishes that many people say tastes better the next day, once the spice has settled into the rice. Cool leftovers and get them into the fridge within two hours, keep them covered, and eat them within three to four days. To reheat, sprinkle a spoonful of water over the rice, cover the dish and warm it gently in the oven or microwave until it is steaming hot all the way through. A dry pan on high heat will crisp the bottom and toughen the beef, so go slow.
