Experience the Authentic Taste of Lamprais Toronto at Blessed Kitchen

Discover the magic of Lamprais, a quintessential Sri Lankan delicacy, right here in Toronto. Blessed Kitchen brings you the most authentic and Halal-certified Lamprais experience.

Lamprais is the dish people drive across the GTA for, and it is the one we are proudest of. It is a full meal baked inside a banana leaf: rice cooked in stock, a three-meat curry, a fish cutlet, seeni sambol, a spoon of blachan and a boiled egg, all packed together and heated so the flavours run into each other. Nothing about it is fast to make, which is why most kitchens skip it.

What is actually in our lamprais

Every parcel is built by hand the same way our family has always made it.

  • Stock rice. Short-grain rice cooked in meat stock, not plain water, so it carries flavour on its own.
  • Three-meat curry. Chicken, beef and lamb slow-cooked together in roasted Sri Lankan spice.
  • Seeni sambol. Sweet, dark caramelised onion with a bit of heat.
  • Blachan and a fish cutlet. The salty, deep notes that make lamprais taste finished.
  • A boiled egg, quartered on top.

All of it is zabihah halal. No shortcuts on the meat.

Why the banana leaf matters

The leaf is not for looks. Baking the parcel wrapped in it steams the rice and curries together and leaves a faint green, smoky smell you cannot get from foil. That last bake is what turns five separate things into one dish.

When we make it

We cook on weekends, so lamprais is a Saturday and Sunday dish. Because each parcel is assembled and wrapped by hand, order ahead so we can have yours ready.

How to get it

Lamprais travels well, so it holds up whether you pick it up or get it delivered. We are a weekend kitchen, so pickup is from our Scarborough location on Saturday and Sunday, 12 to 5. If you are inside our Uber Eats delivery range, we can also drop it at your door.
