Halal Party Catering in Mississauga

Authentic halal Sri Lankan & Indian party catering delivered to Mississauga, roughly $20 to $30 per person (quoted on menu and headcount).

Why a Sri Lankan spread changes a Mississauga party

Plenty of party tables in Peel Region end up looking alike: a rice dish, a creamy tomato curry, naan and a salad. A Sri Lankan table gives your guests something new to talk about. The rice is the anchor, but the small sides do most of the work: sweet and sour eggplant moju, golden pineapple curry, the crunchy heat of maasi sambol and a cool spoon of yogurt sambal to balance it. Most guests try a little of everything and come back for the one they did not expect to like.

A short guide to the sides

  • Eggplant moju: eggplant cooked until caramelized, in a sweet, sour and spicy marinade. It goes with any biryani.
  • Pineapple curry: sweet pineapple, gently spiced. Children and spice-shy guests usually like it.
  • Maasi sambol: dried Maldives fish (skipjack tuna) with fried onion, chili, curry leaves and lime. Salty, tangy and hot. Not for vegetarians or anyone avoiding fish.
  • Acharu: a Sri Lankan pickle of fruit and vegetables in vinegar and spices. A spoonful is plenty.
  • Yogurt sambal: contains dairy, and cools down everything else on the plate.

String Hopper Biryani or Chicken Biryani Combo 2

These are the two combos we would put side by side for a Mississauga party, and they suit different guest lists.

The String Hopper Biryani Combo (roughly $20 to $30 per person (quoted on menu and headcount)) is the talking point. Instead of rice, the biryani is built on string hoppers, the steamed rice-flour noodle nests. It comes with chicken korma, eggplant moju, pineapple curry, yogurt sambal and maasi sambol. Pick it when your guests are curious eaters and you want the table to feel different from the last three parties they went to.

Chicken Biryani Combo 2 (roughly $20 to $30 per person (quoted on menu and headcount)) is the steadier choice for a larger, mixed group: chicken biryani with deep-fried chicken, pineapple curry, eggplant moju, acharu, maasi sambol, green-pea cashew curry and custard dessert.

Two worked examples, before tax and delivery:

  • 40 guests on String Hopper Biryani: final pricing depends on your menu and headcount.
  • 80 guests on Chicken Biryani Combo 2: final pricing depends on your menu and headcount.

Every combo is quotes each event based on menu and headcount, and each one needs at least 20 people. If you want some of each, ask us about mixing combos.

Hall rentals and the drive west

Mississauga is about 50 km from our kitchen, roughly 45 to 55 minutes along the 401 or the 407 depending on the hour. Hall rentals often come with a fixed access window, and the caterer has to arrive inside it. Before you confirm with us, find out three things from the hall: what time the doors open to you, which entrance takes deliveries, and whether there is a warming area or only tables. Send us those details and we will aim the drop-off inside your window.

Some halls also have their own rules about outside food, cleanup deposits or which tables you may use for a buffet. Read the rental agreement before the day, so nothing surprises you while the trays are coming through the door.

Because of the distance, try to settle your headcount a few days ahead. Changes are much easier to handle before we pack than after the order has left Scarborough.

Setting the table so the sides get eaten

Put the biryani first in the line and the small sides right after it. Serve the sides in small bowls, refilled from the trays as they empty, rather than in full trays. Guests take more variety when the portions look manageable. Keep the hot trays in chafing dishes and put the yogurt sambal at the cold end of the table, away from the fuel. More on the dish itself is on our String Hopper Biryani page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is String Hopper Biryani the same as plain string hoppers?

No. We make the String Hopper Biryani Combo only. We do not make plain string hoppers (idiyappam) as a separate dish.

How long does delivery to Mississauga take?

About 45 to 55 minutes from our kitchen in north Scarborough, depending on traffic on the 401 or 407.

Can we pick the order up ourselves?

Yes. Pickup is from 328 Passmore Avenue, Unit 59, Scarborough. It is a long drive from Mississauga, so most hosts there choose delivery, but either works.

Is the meat halal?

Yes. Our chicken, beef and lamb are HMA-certified halal, and documentation is available on request.
