Halal Sri Lankan Catering in Markham — 2026

Halal Sri Lankan Catering for Markham events. Halal Sri Lankan menus, pricing, lead times, and delivery from our Scarborough kitchen.

Too few guests for a combo, too many to cook for

A lot of Markham gatherings land in an awkward middle: ten to eighteen people. A cousin's graduation dinner, a small engagement visit, colleagues coming over for a weekend lunch. That is more than you want to cook for, but below the 20-person minimum on our per-person combos. This post is about how to feed that size of group well.

The good news is that Markham is the closest city we serve, about 10 km and roughly 15 minutes from our kitchen on Passmore Avenue. Short distances make small orders practical.

Three routes for 8 to 18 people

  1. Catering trays. Trays come in three sizes: small feeds 5 to 8, medium feeds 10 to 15, and large feeds 20 to 30. For 14 guests, for example, you might choose one medium tray of rice and smaller trays of a meat dish and a vegetable dish. Tray prices are not published, so ask for a quote with your headcount and the dishes you want.
  2. Individual dishes. Our regular menu items can be ordered through the direct ordering page or Uber Eats. This works when you want variety and a few of each.
  3. Round up to 20. If you are at 17 or 18 and expect a few drop-ins, it can be simpler to book a combo for 20. quotes each event based on menu and headcount with a 20-person minimum, and Chicken Biryani Combo 1 at roughly $20 to $30 per person (quoted on menu and headcount) is confirmed in your event quote.

An example order from the regular menu

Here is what a mixed order for a small family dinner might look like, using listed menu prices:

  • 4 Biriyani at $12 each: $48
  • 3 Kottu Roti at $13 each: $39
  • 2 Chilli Chicken at $14.99 each: $29.98
  • 2 Chicken Devil at $12.99 each: $25.98
  • 1 Vattalappam at $15: $15

That is confirmed in your event quote. How many people it feeds depends on appetites and on what you add from your own kitchen, such as salad or plain rice, so treat it as a starting point and adjust.

Dishes that suit a small spread

With a smaller group, you can afford dishes that are harder to scale for a hall of 200. A few from our menu that work well on a dining table:

  • Roast Bread, $13: served with coconut sambal and egg-milk curry. Good for a relaxed brunch-style table.
  • Coconut Roti, $12: served with beef curry and dhal curry. Easy to share and tear.
  • Puttu Mixed, $20: puttu with any meat, dhal curry and coconut sambal. A homely Sri Lankan choice that older relatives often appreciate.
  • Kottu Roti, $13: chopped roti with egg omelette. Popular with younger guests. Contains egg.
  • Mango Lassi, $6: made with yogurt, so it contains dairy.

Adding a single tray of something special can lift a small table too. Chilli Shrimp is $18.99 and Boneless Mutton Devil is $14.99, with a minimum order for 10+ people. Our menu does not include hoppers or plain string hoppers, so if a relative asks for them, roast bread, coconut roti and puttu are the closest things we offer.

Weekend timing

We are a weekend kitchen, with pickup on Saturday and Sunday. For a small Markham order, pickup is quick from most of the city. If you would rather have it brought to you, a 15-minute drive means you can plan the delivery close to when you want to eat. Either way the food is packed and ready to serve, and there are no servers, so plan who will set the table.

Markham homes range from condos to large detached houses. If you are in a condo, tell us when you book whether the order should go to the concierge, the lobby or a loading area, and whether a parking spot needs to be arranged. Townhouse complexes with numbered units also benefit from a quick note on which entrance to use.

For a dinner of this size, a couple of practical touches help: warm the plates in a low oven, put the hottest dishes at the end of the table, and set a small bowl next to each tray for used spoons.
